SKIN and BODY Survival kit with a little help from Dr. Hauschka and some of my favourites ready for the long haul!!!
It’s great to jet off but being 30,000 feet up in the air can upset the delicate balance of the skin and the humidity in the cabin is drier that most desserts! High altitudes create less blood flow to the skin resulting in dull looking skin, So here a few of my go to products and tried and tested skin savers to help your skin hydrate and recover!
Instead of cracking opening the bubbly on a flight try cracking open a couple of Intensive Night Conditioning ampules encouraging dry skin to retain oil and moisture whilst sensitive skin is soothed and fortified, oily and blemished skin is calmed and rough skin is smoothed, apply all over the face including eyes, lips and ears containing Madonna Lilly, Silver, Damask Rose, Royal Jelly and Witch Hazel before applying a lovely layer of Dr.Hauschka Hydration mask with its blend of botanicals including the wonder fruit Quince sooths, protects and revitalises whilst sealing in moisture, leave on for a good 15 minutes or just let it soak right in for that extra boost, make up can be applied over it if you need to refresh and look fabulous before stepping off the plane!!
A must have for tired legs, puffy & swollen legs and varicose veins is the Dr.Hauschka Revitalising Leg & Arm tonic containing Borage and Rosemary can help reduce water retention and leave legs feeling light again.
Bronze and glow with Dr.Hauschka Translucent Bronzing Tint– my go to product for a sunkissed glow without the synthetic enhanced smells associated with some tanning and bronzing products. You only need a small amount and I tend to mix mine with foundation or moisturiser. The light formulation brings out the natural skin tones of the skin and is great for all skin conditions and can be used on the face and body.
HAIR S.O.S – destress sun kissed locks with Dr.Hauschka Hair strengthening treatment containing Neem, Rosemary and Chamomile to strengthen, fortify and to sooth and balance the scalp, massage through the hair and scalp and wrap in warm towel for 15/20 minutes and the shampoo and rinse out. Top tip for frazzled locks just pop a little on to the ends and do not rinse.
Elemis Quiet Mind Temple Balm – one of my favs and a product I often use when flying and I incorporate at the end of a facial and in Indian Head Massage, this little bottle of happiness is great to sooth and calm with it’s beautiful and powerful blend of essential oils of Eucalyptus, Patchouli, Ho Wood and Lemon. Just apply a little dash on both temples, behind ears and base of neck.
Finally turn to SAGE to keep cool, calm and grounded!
A staple product in the Dr.Hauschka treatments, we use sage in our foot soak with muslin cloths as part of a grounding pre treatment cleanse before popping on to the couch for your main treatment. Sage is wonderful for the summer months as it helps balance the sweat-regulating mechanism in your brain, great for ladies experiencing hot flushes and night sweats also. It has also been known to aid with sleep by boosting neurotransmitter called acetylcholine, this calms the central nervous system and increases REM sleep which is deeper than restorative sleep. Known also for helping keep summer sniffles at bay with its allergy prevention properties..
Top tip – A bucket of warm water and a capful of Sage Bath essence swirled in a figure of 8 with a fresh muslin cloth over the bowl and then pop your feet on to the cloth and immerse your tootsies to feel fresh and grounded.
Sage Tea – Infuse a tablespoon of freshly torn sage leaves in a large cup of boiling water and let it brew for up to five minutes before straining and drinking, great to refresh and regulate your temperature. If you are under the weather and experiencing a scratchy or sore throat add a dash of lemon and let the tea cool down and gargle.
So if you are armed with all this KIT you should be well prepared, soothed and Calmed for the summer months ahead!
